Design

The Samsung Galaxy S25 retains a familiar yet interesting design. You get triple camera setup on the back just like last year although with a slight change. There is a silver ring around those lenses just like the S25 Ultra. Another change that you will notice when you hold the phone is the lighter build. The S25 Fe weighs 190 grams and 7.6mm thick. It is 0.6 mm slimmer and 23 grams lighter than last year’s S24 FE. Despite the cheaper price, it has a metal build and flat frame with rounded corners. It will be available in Navy, Jetblack, White, and Icyblue in contrast to S24 FE’s Blue, Graphite, Gray, Mint and Yellow color options.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE sports a familiar 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen just like last year’s S24 FE. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection. Compared to last year’s S24 FE, you get a similar display although with higher peak brightness thanks to the new Vision Booster feature. Another noticeable upgrade is the new Ultrasonic fingerprint. This should make unlocking the phone faster and way secure compared to the optical one on the S24 FE. Sadly both phones miss out on LTPO tech for dynamically adjusting the refresh rate.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE uses the Exynos 2400 chipset, not to be confused with the Exynos 2400e found in last year’s S24 FE. What’s the difference? Well, 2400e in the S24 FE has a 0.1 GHz lower clock speed compared to the S25 FE. However, when it comes to thermal performance, the S25 has a liquid cooling thermal which is 10 per cent bigger than the S24 FE. Even though both phones offer similar performance, the S25 FE can sustain it better even under extreme loads.
Even in terms of benchmarks, the S25 FE scores 2016 in single and 6570 in multi core based on the leaked Geekbench 6 scores. This is more or less similar to what last year’s S24 FE in terms of CPU performance. But the larger vapour cooling chamber can prove to be a game changer given the fact that Samsung’s Exynos chips are prone to heating. That being said, there isn’t any huge generational leap in terms of performance either. Sadly you still get 8GB of RAM which isn’t adequate for today’s advanced AI models.

Software And AI

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE ships with the latest One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. Just like the rest of the S25 series, it will get 7 years of OS updates and security patches. This means compared to last year’s S24 FE, you are getting 2 years of additional updates since the latter came with Android 14. Furthermore, even when compared to the S25 series that made its debut earlier this year, you are getting one year of extra OS update. So in terms of software support, the S25 FE has a clear edge here.
Coming to AI features, you get the useful Now Bar at the bottom of the lockscreen apart from the personalized Now Brief. There’s also Circle To Search while gaming just like the S25 Ultra. This can be handy for seeking helps during those tricky missions in Genshin Impact.Other AI features include Photo Assist, Low Noise mode and Generative Edit.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE sports a triple camera setup on the back. Just like its predecessor, you get a 50MP primary, 8MP telephoto with 3x zoom and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. Sadly, many users were hoping for an upgrade to the telephoto lens but it isn’t clearly happening this year either. There are plenty of useful AI features such as Audio Eraser, 4K Slow-Mo
Samsung has been using the same telephoto lens since the S21 FE and the trend continues for yet another year. Thankfully, Samsung has updated the front camera to a 12MP sensor compared to a 10MP one found on the S24 FE.

Battery and Charging

Battery is one department where the S25 FE gets a noticeable bump. While you won’t find any Silicon Carbon here, the S25 FE still gets a respectable 4,900mAh up from 4,700mAh in the S24 FE. For context, this is the same battery capacity as the more expensive S25 Plus. Interestingly, the base S25 and the S25 Edge pack smaller batteries at 4,000mAh and 3,900mAh respectively.
Another upgrade is in terms of the charging speed. The S25 FE charges at 45W wired and 15W wireless which is line with the rest of the S25 lineup. This is major increase over last year’s S24 FE which was capped at 25W wired.

Pricing And Availability
Samsung is yet to reveal the price of the S25 FE in India but it is priced at $650 (approx Rs.60,000) in the US. Samsung is giving away Google AI Pro for 6 months with every purchase. It will be available in stores starting today.
However, Samsung’s FE series is only popular during sales when it gets a huge price cut so it’s best to wait for one. The S24 FE is currently retailing for Rs.34,298 which makes it a much better deal right now since the upgrades are incremental at best. That being said, once the price of the S25 FE goes down in sales, it will undoubtedly become popular among Samsung fans.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Vs S24 FE: Which One Should You Buy?
Well, the answer is clear as the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE brings some much needed upgrades in the software, performance and battery department. Not only is the phone lighter but it also has a bigger battery than last year’s model. Furthermore, you get two years of extra OS updates and new AI features. There’s also faster wired and wireless charging apart from a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for added security.
However, at its current price, it’s hard to recommend the S25 FE since phones like the OnePlus 13, iQOO 13 and even Samsung’s last year S24 can be purchased for much less. Since the FE series is essentially a trimmed down version of the flagship, it’s hard to justify it at the current price. You should ideally wait for a good deal during a sale if you are interested in the S25 FE or opt for last year’s S24 FE.
