It’s not even a day since the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, and competitors already started trolling Samsung. With the South Korean giant dubbing the S26 series as an AI-centric smartphone, brands like Poco are taking a dig. Poco has teased the launch of the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max in India. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Poco X8 And X8 Pro Set To Launch In India
In a X post, Poco has teased the release of the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max in India. Taking a shot at Samsung, the post said “Smart minds will wait for the smarter phone. They don’t rush. So shouldn’t you. #POCO”
It also says that “People with high IQ will wait for what’s coming neXt!”. While not explictly mentioned, it’s evident that they are hinting at the Poco X8 series with an emphasis on “X”.

While the Poco X7 series launched with the Poco X7 and the Poco X7 Pro, the company has opted for a different branding this time. This year, we will get the Poco X8 Pro and the X8 Pro Max. These phones are expected to be a rebrand of the Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max with slightly smaller batteries.
Poco X8 Pro Expected Specificatons
Starting with the Poco X8 Pro, it will feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K TCL M10 OLED panel with a 120Hz and 2000 nits of peak brightness. The Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor will power the phone paired with upto 16GB of RAM. It will ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and offer upto 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
As for optics, you can expect a 50MP primary camera and 8MP ultrawide apart from 20MP front facing camera.It will have a 6,500mAh battery with 100W charging and 27W reverse wired. Other expected features include NFC, IR Blaster, metal frame and IP68+IP69+IP69 rating.The Poco X8 Pro is also likely to get a special Iron Man Edition later down the line for fans of the MCU superhero.
Poco X8 Pro Max Specifications
The Poco X8 Pro Max as the name suggest will sport a bigger 6.83-inch 1.5K TCL M10 OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have the same 2000 nits of peak brightness and 3840Hz PWM dimming.As for the processor, you can expect it to use the new Dimensity 9500s chipset with upto 16GB of RAM. Just like its smaller sibling, it will ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and offer upto 1TB of storage
It will also feature a similar 50MP primary and 8MP ultrawide camera sensor on the back. There will also be a 20MP selfie shooter just like the X8 Pro. Although, there is a major change in the battery as the X8 Pro Max will boast a bigger 8,500mAh with 100W wired and 27W reverse wired chargng. Other features include stereo speakers, IP68+IP69+IP69K rating and an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.
Since we are living in the era of chip shortage and rising memory prices, it wouldn’t be a surprise if these phones turn out to be expensive than their predecessors. We can expect a starting price of Rs.30,000 for the X8 Pro and approximately Rs.40,000 for the X8 Pro Max. Both phones are expected to debut by the end of February or early March.
