Apple’s September event wasn’t just about the iPhone 17 series and new Apple Watch models. The company also took the stage to unveil the AirPods Pro 3, marking the first big update to its premium earbuds since 2022. With smarter health tracking, a better battery, and a major push into AI-powered features like real-time translation, Apple is making the Pro 3 much more than just wireless earbuds.

What’s New in AirPods Pro 3
The new generation brings massive improvements in sound, fit, and smart features, making them the most advanced AirPods yet.
Better ANC And Battery Boost
Apple says the AirPods Pro 3 now deliver the best in-ear Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in the world, removing up to 2x more noise than AirPods Pro 2 and 4x more than the first AirPods Pro. Transparency mode has also been improved to make conversations sound more natural.
Battery life also gets a boost with up to 8 hours of music playback with ANC, a 33% increase from the previous model.
New Add-on For Better Fit
Apple has redesigned AirPods Pro 3 for better comfort and stability. Apple has engineered smaller AirPods with ear tips available in five sizes, including a new XXS option. This is a great addition to the AirPods because the normal size still came a little big for a few people.
AirPods Pro 3 also features the new IP57 sweat and water resistance rating. This means “dust protected” (level 5) against solid particles and protection against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
A New Heart Rate Sensor
For the first time, AirPods Pro 3 come with a built-in heart rate sensor. Using Apple’s custom PPG sensor along with accelerometers, gyroscope, GPS, and AI models on iPhone, users can track over 50 workout types directly from the Fitness app.
The earbuds can measure calories burned, heart rate, and even provide real-time motivational insights with a new feature called Workout Buddy. Apple Fitness+ users will also see live metrics like heart rate and calories directly on their screen while working out.
Live Translation
Another big addition is Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence. AirPods Pro 3 can now help users communicate face-to-face in different languages by translating conversations in real-time. At launch, it supports English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, with Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese coming later this year.
Hearing Health and Longer Battery Life
Apple continues to focus on hearing health with features like automatic Conversation Boost, Hearing Protection, and a Hearing Test built into AirPods Pro 3. Battery life has also been improved, offering 10 hours in Transparency mode on a single charge.
There is also a Hearing Aid feature intended to amplify sound for individuals 18 years old or older with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment. This will be available on the AirPods Pro 2 as well with the new iOS 26 update.
