OnePlus 15 To Debut With New Design And Golden Color

OnePlus is ditching its circular camera module on the OnePlus 13 and opting for a square design similar to the OnePlus 13s. Gone are the curved screens and edges. Instead, you get rounded corners that look similar to an iPhone. Interestingly, the design looks eerily similar to the cheaper OnePlus 13s.

Another change is the replacement of vegan leather from the 13 with fiberglass, providing a smooth texture. The phone will be available in a new golden color called Sand Storm. This new color uses micro-arc oxidation for the aluminum frame, which gives it 3.4 times the hardness of aluminum and makes it 1.3 times tougher than titanium.

Apart from this shiny new color, the OnePlus 15 will also be available in a black variant. Another major omission is the alert slider, which has been replaced by the customizable Plus Key found on the OnePlus 13s.

Expected Specs And Launch Date

It is also the first OnePlus phone to debut with a smooth 165Hz refresh rate, which is rare in this price range. To complement the chipset, there is a new cooling system to maintain peak performance. The phone will launch with OxygenOS 16 out of the box.

The OnePlus 15 will be the first device from the company to use the latest 8 Elite Gen 5. Compared to the 8 Elite in last year’s OnePlus 13, it has a 20 percent faster CPU and a 23 percent better GPU.

The phone will sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K panel, a slight downgrade from the 6.82-inch 2K panel found on the OnePlus 13. Moreover, it will have a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto periscope with 3x zoom.

Furthermore, it will pack a 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. You can also expect the inclusion of magnetic wireless charging similar to MagSafe.

The OnePlus 15 will debut in China next month, possibly on October 28, based on leaks. However, there is no clarity on whether the global launch will take place on the same date.
